Mary was Jacob's second wife. Jacob's first wife, Katharina, came from the Swiss family out of Canton Berne. Katharina bore her husband two children and died at the age of twenty-six.</p> <p>Jacob Schuetz was born in the summer of 1870, the year when his parents Gottlieb and Anna Schuetz came to the United States from Switzerland.
