Description
An account of the resource
A description of the real estate of the Waymire Cemetery located in Brush Creek precinct in Saline County Nebraska. The cemetery begins at the corners of sections 28, 29, 32, and 33 of the town. It ranges 3 chains East and runs West 4.97 chains, and North 4.97 chains to the place of beginning. The entire cemetery concludes 2.47 acres according to the survey. The land was given by Mr. Andrew Waymire and his wife Sarah Waymire for the use of a cemetery.

<p>This traditional pair photograph of the married couple, Dirk Sutorius and Maria Schuetz, was probably made soon after their marriage in 1889. The Sutoriuses were maternal great-grandparents of Bill Dean, whose family provided the document. Born in 1867 in Switzerland Maria (Mary) Schuetz came to Humboldt, Nebraska with her parents Gottlieb and Anna Schuetz in 1870. She married German-born Dirk Sutorius in 1889. Sutorius' daughter Emma, born in 1890 married a recent emigrant from Germany (1908) Edo F. Harms in 1914. All three generations lived in Humboldt, Nebraska in close proximity with various relatives (Emma Sutorius's uncle John Schuetz lived right next door to her family according to the 1930 census).</p>

<p>This ornate document is a marriage certificate for Dirk Sutorius and Maria Schuetz, maternal great-grandparents of Bill Dean, whose family provided the document. <p>The document is decorated in the German tradition with quotations from the Bible, roses and flower ornament. In the folk tradition the witnesses were Maria's elder brother Arnold and his fiancée Bertha.</p>

Dreamland Ballroom
Description
An account of the resource
The Dreamland Ballroom was located on the second floor of the Jewell building at 2221 North 24th Street. This ballroom in the heart of North Omaha was a popular venue for many jazz musicians and the Dreamland Ballroom held some of the greatest acts during its hayday in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s until its closing in 1965. Many of these acts included Louis Armstrong, The Count Baise Band, Preston Love Sr., Dizzy Gillespie, and Anna Mae Winburn and The International Sweethearts of Rhythm, just to name a few! The Dreamland Ballroom was known to be one of the best places to see live jazz music in Nebraska.
This collection of images includes publicity shots of several bands and musicians that performed at the Dreamland Ballroom, and photographs of the performances and the auidence members enjoying the music. These images portray the essence of the Dreamland Ballroom and its importance to the music scene of North Omaha. This collection was contributed at the 2011 North Omaha History Harvest.

Dreamland Ballroom
Description
An account of the resource
The Dreamland Ballroom was located on the second floor of the Jewell building at 2221 North 24th Street. This ballroom in the heart of North Omaha was a popular venue for many jazz musicians and the Dreamland Ballroom held some of the greatest acts during its hayday in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s until its closing in 1965. Many of these acts included Louis Armstrong, The Count Baise Band, Preston Love Sr., Dizzy Gillespie, and Anna Mae Winburn and The International Sweethearts of Rhythm, just to name a few! The Dreamland Ballroom was known to be one of the best places to see live jazz music in Nebraska.
This collection of images includes publicity shots of several bands and musicians that performed at the Dreamland Ballroom, and photographs of the performances and the auidence members enjoying the music. These images portray the essence of the Dreamland Ballroom and its importance to the music scene of North Omaha. This collection was contributed at the 2011 North Omaha History Harvest.
