The certificate is original, paper, and stamped with United States Seal. The certificate was issued as part of the 1873 Timber Culture Act by Congress to encourage settlers to plant trees. This particular certificate, no. 475 application 2142, was issued for encouraging tree planting near/around Grand Island, Nebraska and granted More 160 acres to do so. The other interesting aspect of this artifact is that the two Presidential signatures of Benjamin Harrison do not match. The Holoubecks believe that one or both were signed by Secretary M. Description An account of the resource This Trippensee Planetarium c. 1900 was created and originally used for educational purposes in a classroom setting. It had possibly been found by John Spahr in a schoolhouse near Shelton, Nebraska. The object is made of various materials, and still functions properly. The Smithsonian website for the National Museum of American History notes: The Laing Co., of Detroit, Mi., manufactured planetariums based on the patent (#578,108) issued to Alexander Laing in 1897. Frank Trippensee (a Laing employee) and his brothers bought the firm in 1905, and turned the simple string and pulley instrument into one that used a chain drive and gears. That form—for which Frank Trippenssee received patents in the United States (#881,875) and Canada in 1908—proved remarkably successful and remains in production to this day. Jimmy, originally from Kearney, Nebraska, was father to Andy White and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jimmy passed away in 2004, the same year as this case, after extensive chemotherapy and a long illness. This original booklet contains extensive, detailed information about the required vaccinations for each Vietnam soldier. These included, but were not limited to, Typhoid, Polio, Tetnis, and the Flu. Many Vietnam Veterans are still suffering from various side effects of these particular vaccine administrations, such as Hepatitis C, many of which resulted from unsanitary administration equipment and areas.
