Text
Dear brothers and sisters of St Francis Cabrini in Omaha,
I have excepted with gratitude the invitation in writing this letter in the name of the Church Mother in Carlentini.
I'm Father Salvatore Caramagno, the archpriest of this church. I have been in Carlentini more than 20 yrs., and it has always amazed me the bond that united Carlentini with all the descendents of Carlentini in America and vice versa.
The affection bond maintained by your relatives and by some people of Carlentini, who have lived in Omaha, it's represented in the central altar of our church by a beautiful chandelier of Murano's glass that one of the most important and father to their native church.
But one of the most important thing that unites us in the worship in honor of Saint Lucia Virgin Martyr of Siracusa and Patron Saint of Carlentini.
Devotion that the immigrants brought to America and have maintained through the years in spite of difficulty and changing of life.
I'm sure that for you as for us here in Carlentini, Saint Lucia is always a reference point, a strength in the everyday life.
I wish you all my best in celebrating this 2010 Santa Lucia Festival, as you call it, in which have, peace and harmony reign in you houses and in the neighborhood where you live.
My wish also is that all of you always keep up the good name of Italy and in particular that of Sicily, but above all your Christian faith.
Saint Lucia teaches us to love Christ and with her help we could live the true love, this way the light of God will enter in the world.
With this spirit we should celebrate this Festival of Saint Lucia Virgin and Martyr.
A happy Festival to all of you.
